Marley has gotten so big. I think he's full-grown now. Check him out...
Onyx has decided that his bedroom crate is now HERS, which is fine because he sleeps in our bed. Here she is, claiming her new space...
We are usually on a cruise at Christmas so we don't do the whole decorating thing. This year we're traveling in January so I felt the need to do a little something. I made a tree using branches from our yard and I love it!
We took Aunt Martha—who is in town for Thanksgiving—to The Stage Company's opening night of Every Christmas Story Ever Told. It was so fun! There isn't a bad seat in the house. The seating makes you feel like you're on the stage; it's very intimate.
Here's the show in a nutshell:
Santa Claus and just about every other Christmas character in pop culture history make an appearance in this fast-moving, irreverent comedy, in which three actors decide that rather than perform A Christmas Carol once again, they'll retell Every Christmas Story Ever Told in 90 minutes. Using costumes, special effects and, of course, their wits, they take holiday cheer to the extreme.
The show was pretty funny. Adam absolutely LOVED it. I ran in to my friend and former coworker Candace who I haven't seen in at least 10 years. Too cool.
Last week Adam and I went on vacation to San José del Cabo, where Adam thinks he found the future home of Boomer's. I present to you...Buzzard's...
The problem is this: I do not want to live in Mexico. Too bad, so sad.
Between my broken hand and the bad weather (you'll see later), this was a kick-back vacation. We mostly read and looked for awesome taquerias. Our favorite is The Hangman...
(Notice how disgustingly sweaty we all are. It was 97º all week, even during the STORMS.)
The above photo was taken a day or two later when we attempted to go back. The weather was so awful that they just closed. We ended up at a place across the street, where Adam found the perfect burrito.
It rained so much the ceiling caved in three spots and water went everywhere. Everyone just kept eating. SO Mexico.
We had a lightening storm Monday night and the weather stayed bad until Thursday afternoon.
So we had to find ways to entertain ourselves...
Although the ocean was still too rough for boating, the weather broke enough for us to get out and play. While I got a massage on the beach, Adam went for a ride. He used to ride and train horses in the Army, so he had a blast with the friskiest horse...
Doesn't he look like Gilligan?
On our last day Adam finally got to go on a couple dives; visibility wasn't great. I watched waves and read my Kindle. I love love love this thing. OMG. LOVE. (I put it in a zippie to avoid sunscreen issues. I know, I need a better solution.)
As a crappy-weather consolation prize we upgraded to first class from Cabo to LAX. Sweet. (Thank goodness we weren't flying through Dallas on Saturday.) The layover at LAX was long and boring. Adam killed the time by
BROKEN HAND UPDATE
The swelling is almost gone, but it's still bruised and still hurts. The good news is my new, best-ever orthopedic surgeon decided it would be best not to
Obviously I can't teach until he clears me; I can barely type. I haven't been able to exercise or do much of anything, which is extremely bad for my psyche. I may try to walk through one of Adam's classes—meaning absolutely no arm movements, no jumping, no hopping, none of that nonsense. I thought about trying the eliptical one-handed, but any hand movement hurts and if I fall it could be disasterous.
Thanks to everyone for the well-wishes, emails, baked goods and cards. Shana (my sister-in-law) made this awesome card. Notice her attention to detail and use of orange, my favorite color. Hugs to her.
